Palace Of Queen Mangamma

Queen Mangamma ruled from 1689 AD to 1706AD. with Trichy as the capital city. As the wife of the king Chokkanatha Naicker She followed him. In 1689 AD a palace was built for Queen Magamma in Madurai. This palace is situated near Meenakshiamman Temple at the junction of North chitrai street and East chitrai street. A central vegetable market is nearby. At present there are a few portions only left. In the chamber with eight short pillars , the state Public works Department in functioning at present. It is said that the Queen's palace was spread over an area from North avani moola street to North Chitrai street. A part of the palace is now used as a Higher secondary school of the Madurai corporation.
