Sri Ananda Iyyappan Temple

This temple was established in 22nd March , 1968 in West Masi Street , Madurai. The entrance of this temple is facing west. The Moolavar (Main deity) is Sri Aananda Iyyappan, made of the Five Metals. Facing east Sri Vinayaka and facing west Sri Muruga deities are seen.

The area of this temple is 60 feet long and 20 feet wide. The Royal tower of this temple is 20 feet high. The Kalasam (dome-like structure) of this Royal tower is made of copper. The tower over the sanctum sanctorum is gold shielded. The temple is open from 5 A.M. to 9.00 P.M. with an interval from 11.00 A.M. to 4.30 P.M. The Poojas for 2 timings of Kaalasanthi and Saagaratchai are performed regularly.

The 1st days the months of Kaarthigai, Marghali and Thai are considered aspicious and celebrated as special days. Special Abishekam and Aaradhanas are arranged on these days. The Uthram day of Panguni is also celebrated as a special day. On the Vishu of Chithirai month, called VishukKani Dharsan, special Abishekam and Poojas are conducted.

The temple belongs to the Public at large. During the Mandala Pooja in the month of Marghali the deity taken in procession is all the four Masi Streets in a flower Pallak. Here, the Iyyappa devotees conduct Poojas after fasting and garlanding before going to the Iyyappa temple. On paying a fee of Rs. 500/- for conducting the Pooja on a special day, the Poojas and Aaradhanas will be arragned as per the desire of the devotee and Prasathams will be given to those devotees.
